Many organisations, large and small, across the UK are planning an incredible variety of events to celebrate the life and legacy of Charles Darwin.
From conferences and exhibitions to graphic novels and dramatic performances, there is something for everyone from scientists to young children.

An Advocacy Panel has been set up to promote Darwin200 to key stakeholders.
Newquay Zoo is working with the Bristol Cultural Development Partnership to plan their Darwin200 celebrations. The Southwest area has strong Darwin links as the Beagle set sail from Plymouth in December 1831 and returned to Falmouth five years later. Darwin also took a family seaside holiday in Torquay in 1861. Plans for 2009 include linking up with local colleges, galleries and museums to develop a schools and visitor trail, a display about the changing nature of zoos since Victorian times, and a Big Beard Birthday Bash weekend 14-15 February 2009.
